Worcester is a city in central England’s West Midlands region. By the River Severn, medieval Worcester Cathedral houses royal tombs, a crypt and cloisters. At The Commandery, a museum traces the building’s evolution from the Middle Ages through England’s Civil War to the 1950s. The timber-framed Tudor House Museum focuses on life in Tudor and 17th-century Worcester.
Worcester was first settled in 1673. At the start of King Philip's War, the settlement was abandoned. It was at the second attempted settlement that the name “Worcester” meaning “war-castle” was adopted. This settlement was also abandoned in 1701.
Worcestershire sauce is perhaps the Worcester's most famous product. It was first produced in Worcester by two chemists, John Wheeley Lea and William Perrins, and went on sale in 1837. It is still produced in the city today, although the origin of the recipe remains a mystery.
Does Worcester have good nightlife?
Worcester is called the party capital of Worcestershire: here you will find a lively club scene ranging from trendy bars to British traditional pubs as well as contemporary wine and cocktail bars and many of them are located in the city centre. Plenty of night life in my apartment.
