guys and girls hope you are floating your boat and enjoying it. The reason I wanted to explain this saying is someone said it to me and I was not sure what it meant, now I know, these days we just say whatever It means the same thing
This term comes from the term man in the boat, the boat being a woman's clitoris. Therefore, if your boat is floating you are very happy, hence, whatever floats your boat. This means whatever turns you on, interests you, suits you, something you like, your preference or choice. Q. 'Would you like to go skiing?' A. 'Whatever floats your boat' (your choice or preference). e.g. Statement 'I prefer boys to girls'; Response 'I just like girls but whatever floats your boat is fine with me.
